Timber selection
Moisture calibration
Dry-fit joinery
Hardwax oil finish
We source single-origin logs of domestic walnut and white oak, drying stock twelve months outdoors before climate-controlled cycling.
Internal core moisture is calibrated to seven percent before surfacing to stabilize fibers against seasonal movement and splitting.
Mortise-and-tenon frames are hand-chiseled and friction-fitted on iron benches before receiving hand-turned domestic oak timber pins.
Plant-derived wax oils are hand-rubbed in three successive coats, penetrating cellular grain without forming a plastic surface film.

Engineered wood movement
Solid timber expands across width during humid summers and contracts in dry winters. We anchor tabletops with sliding dovetails and slotted timber buttons rather than rigid mechanical screws, allowing the wood to breathe freely without tearing its own grain.
Each joint is planed flush with hand scrapers to a tolerance under one sixty-fourth of an inch, leaving knife marks and joiner stamps visible beneath the wax seal.
